A new system will be used to calculate the merit points for SPM 2009 school leavers for admission into public institutions of higher learning (IPTAs) in 2010 in line with the new grading to be implemented this year:
A+ = 18, A = 16, A - = 14
B+ = 12, B = 10
C+ = 8, C = 6
D = 4, E = 2
